Aluung is strictly an academic project emerging from a PhD in Finance research initiative by a PhD Candidate. As a not-for-profit endeavor, all Aluung services are offered free of charge, with no fees or commissions applied to any transactions or features. This ensures accessibility for underserved communities, aligning with the PhD's focus on enhancing financial literacy, trust in technology, and social capital in emerging economies.
Features
Aluung enables groups to focus on fostering ties and doing their core mandate by digitizing the financial activities of traditional Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), and Rotating Savings and Credit Associations (ROSCAs) such as Njangis & Tontines - which often rely on manual methods like physical registers, notebooks, Excel sheets, or WhatsApp messages for recording transactions. By providing a digital alternative, Aluung supports the study of social networks, financial inclusion, and fintech adoption in the informal economy in countries like Cameroon.
24/7 Account Visibility and Control
Transact anytime and anywhere. With Aluung, you can request deposits into your wallet while your group treasurer manages the actual money transfer outside the platform. Aluung simply records and tracks these transactions digitally. After approval, you can transact seamlessly - save, pay insurance premiums, submit insurance claims (with justifications), pay fines, and more. All members can monitor their balances and activity through a vivid, easy-to-use dashboard.

Are your group members located in different countries, and you need to make contributions in various currencies for a member's celebratory event or demise? Use the International Contributions module to appoint multiple currency managers to seamlessly manage contributions.
Customized product specifications and labels
Aluung allows groups to tailor their product(Savings, Insurance, Loans, etc) specifications and labels to their group's constitution.
Who Aluung is For
Aluung is a research tool. It helps in digitizing savings, investments and loans among unbanked or underserved populations, promoting financial inclusion. It targets: Community Savings Groups, School Alumni Associations and similar informal networks. The academic goal of this project is to reach participants who can contribute to understanding fintech drivers, with aspirations to gather scientific insights.
